UNDIE SUNDAY SUCCESS!

Barefoot Sunday 2011 brought in over 550 pairs of shoes and over 15 bags of clothing! Thanks for your amazing generosity and kindness! Follow this link to our friends at SNAP Mississauga North.

Two hard truths:

1) More than 3 Billion people around the world live on less than $2 a day. Many don’t have shoes.

2) We have more shoes than we need. A survey revealed that an average person has 17 pairs of shoes. But wears three regularly.

One Bold Action:

On Barefoot Sunday, Hope Community Church is collecting shoes that would help people in need in our community. All sizes are needed.

If you are able, leave the pair that you came with, and consider going home barefoot. This will help us to identify with, if even for a few minutes, the reality that the billions of others around the world face every day.

The collected shoes will then be passed on to The Open Door at Square One- our partner in free clothing distribution.

Giving guidelines:

· please don’t give any badly damaged shoes

· feel free to give more than one pair of shoes

· invite others to give

· if you can, include a new pair of socks!

· because we lack storage, please hold on to all donations until BarefootSunday

Wearing Dignity and Restoring Hope

While many clothing banks accept outerwear (jackets…) and overwear (clothes), most do not accept undergarments.

Yet the need of undergarments for the homeless and economically challenged still exists.

To meet this need, Hope Community Church is hosting “Undie Sunday” to collect new, preferably still in the package, pairs of undergarments to pass on to shelters and clothing banks.

Boxers, briefs, diapers, bras, ‘long johns’, socks, undershirts and the like, of all sizes, for males and females will all be gladly accepted.

ITEMS MUST BE NEW AND PREFERABLY STILL IN THEIR PACKAGING.
